The crane shot allows the audience to leave a normal point of view, creating a novel perspective that’s inherently cinematic. A crane shot is taken by a camera mounted on a jib or crane arm. This allows the user to elevate the camera and gives them a free movement in space. ie up, down, left and right. This movement is far more than you would get on a dolly and allows for much greater elevation and freer movement in space.

Merlin V40

The Merlin V40 Camera Crane is a modular camera crane designed to carry a remote head.  Being modular it is extremely versatile and has many different configurations. The user can build the crane in multiple lengths up to its maximum length of 40’.

Manufactured out of high-grade aluminium, The Merlin V35 is both durable and lightweight. The Merlin V35 provides an extremely stable and smooth shooting platform. The straightforward assembly means a fast setup, making the Merlin V40 ideal for almost any shooting situation.

The Merlin V40 has a CE Mark meaning it conforms to The EC Declaration of Conformity (soon to be UKCA DoC) and every crane comes with a  ‘thorough examination report’, valid for 1 year.

Precision made levelling legs may be fitted to the Merlin V35 base, allowing for fast levelling on uneven surfaces.

The base is also equipped with a custom-made push bar which can be attached at either end of the dolly. Making tracking shoots much more controllable & manageable.

All this comes at a very realistic price.

The maximum weight on the Merlin V35 longest arm (40’)  is 50kgs. As you decrease the arm length your maximum weight increases.
